If you could only say one thing about your business to get someone to do business with you what would that one thing be?

Offering one compelling message that gets to the heart of what you offer and how that will fulfill your customer wants, will make your life and your customers life a little easier.

Marketers, who make things simpler for their customers, make things simpler for themselves. The challenge and fear is having to give something up. How can we just say one thing and appeal to all the different needs and wants of a marketplace? As Jack Trout* said, “to have one good message you have to give up ten messages.”

Reality is, customers will not remember all the things about your products that you will. They will remember what is important to them. If you find out what is important to them, you will also find some consistency among groups of customers. From that point, you can build the one message for why future customers will want to do business with you. A message that is easy to remember and will stand out from competitors.
